Access insider tips of the best of Christchurch with Open City, a new Gap Filler/ All Right? campaign project.
Open City is a celebration of undervalued, sweet, free things to do in Christchurch. It might be a good climbing tree in the Botanic Gardens, a quirky piece of street art or a great place for a picnic. These are just some of the many little secrets suggested by other locals and visitors which are being shared via a re-purposed parking meter in Cathedral Square.
24 hours, free
Parking meter is located at East end of Cathedral Square, near Cathedral entrance.
Open City is a collaboration with the All Right? Campaign.

SUPER STREET ARCADE
Super Street Arcade by Gap Filler is New Zealand’s first giant, outdoor arcade game system that channels 80s arcade classics.
The current game (Winter 2017 is Space Raiders, an ode to Space Invaders and features a battle to save the icons of Christchurch from an Alien invasion).
Situated in the central city with a screen mounted on a building and oversized game controller complete with joystick on the footpath, Super Street Arcade requires players to get active as you move the giant joystick and jump on the over-sized buttons. A minimum of two players are needed to play, so make a new friend and have a go!
From early December, 2016 to Summer 2018
This garden on Peterborough Street is full of large-scale musical instruments made from repurposed materials and junk, by local artists. Have a jam in an outdoor garden setting. (The garden was made by Greening the Rubble. Instruments made by Gap Filler).
