Food & Drink The Best Brunches in Christchurch

Christchurch city centre is an absolute haven for cafe stops. One of the most walkable and rideable cities in the country you’ll be needing many a coffee and cake pick-me-up during your day and we have some of the best brunch spots right here for the plucking. Here are 3 of the best to check out...

Supreme Supreme

This spot is a Swedish designers dream. Slick wood with splashes of red and white, they are a coffee addicts dream. Having roasted their own since 1993 they offer up the black stuff in so many varieties. They also have a delicious menu full of comfort food, think grilled cheese sandwiches, burgers, smoothies and heavenly porridge to get you ready for the day. Porridge with cream and roasted walnuts are a must.

10 Welles Street

Hello Sunday

Only a short (walkable) detour out of the city centre you will find Hello Sunday. Set back from the road in a beautiful 18th century building which started it’s life as a post office, you’ll find treats and coffee aplenty. The freshest produce (think avocado and split pea on toast, huge oozing chocolate doughnuts) alongside fresh juices, coffee and teas. All the brunch treats you could need before getting your camera ready to snap this delightful place.

6 Elgin Street

Caffeine Laboratory

Situated on our iconic New Regent Street, Caffeine Lab serves up seriously good food and coffee. The perfect place to enjoy brunch outside and watch the tram roll by. Eggs with avo and dukkah? Yes please.

1 New Regent Street

Addington Coffee Co-op

In the heart of Addington village, this bustling cafe has something for everyone. Find a cosy spot to grab a quick coffee, or set up camp at one of the long tables and enjoy the vibrant surrounds while enjoying a fresh pastry or one of the impeccably presented breakfasts. Committed to only using Fair Trade coffee, the cafe and roastery has the perfect ambiance with plenty of natural light to sit and enjoy your coffee. Head on down, you really feel like you are part of the community when you visit this iconic Christchurch cafe.

297 Lincoln Road

Unknown Chapter

One of the newest kids on the block, Unknown Chapter is housed in a sleek steel warehouse. Huge glass windows frame the industrial space and the ceiling is adorned with beautiful trailing plants and foliage. The glass trend continues amongst the counter top which is bursting with breakfast and brunch dishes. The huge coffee roaster sits gleaming at the back of the space and overlooks the main prize, bagels, pulled pork flatbread, eggs done your way, souvlaki and a weighty list of milkshakes to tickle your fancy.
