Curators House

Situated on the edge of the Botanic Gardens, the Curators House has one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. The wooden dining tables and the colourful umbrellas of the restaurant make the house and the garden look even prettier and very inviting. The smell of the flowers and the herbs in the garden add to the smell of the dishes prepared by the team of the restaurant. The products used are all fresh and most of them come straight out of their edible garden.

Mona Vale

The freshly restored Mona Vale Homestead and Garden is a bijou in the heart of Christchurch. The garden is very famous and attracts visitors from near and afar. The restaurant offers breakfast, brunch, High Tea and Devonshire Tea. The food is nicely presented and the surroundings make it taste even better. Mona Vale Pantry always gets very busy, to enjoy an afternoon in the beautiful gardens, make sure to book ahead.

The Cup

Most people know the Cup from walking up Cashmere Hill to Victoria Park. The Cup is roughly half way up and a welcome spot to catch your breath and stop for a quick caffeine boost. The view from the café is breathtaking, overlooking the city and the Southern Alps. The Cup is open in the evenings as well, the restaurant has a good selections of wine and serves dinner.

If you prefer a sea view, head over to Lyttelton. Freemans restaurant has an outdoor deck from where you can overlook the harbour and enjoy the afternoon and evening sun. The restaurant specialises in Italian food, such as homemade pizza and pasta. Every Sunday afternoon there is live jazz music on the deck. Located directly on Sumner beach, the Beach  is the place to go. The deck offers a beautiful view over the whole beach. The food served is simple and light, perfect for a hot summer`s evening. Before heading home, make sure to go for a walk along the beach and enjoy the warmth of the sand under your feet.

She Universe

Overlooking beautiful Governors Bay, She Universe`s view from their deck is hard to beat. On a nice summer day you are able to see Diamond Harbour and parts of Lyttelton. The café is serving breakfast and lunch, but no dinner. She Universe specialises in making chocolate and their creations are irresistible!
