What's Open?

With more than half of the Arts Centre now restored, there are plenty of ways to be part of the growing community. 

Visit the Great Hall or Rutherford's Den to see the incredible restoration of these unique heritage buildings that are over 135 years old. Shop at the growing number of boutique shops, galleries and food outlets, or experience the wide range of on-site events. 

Great Hall

Be captivated by the stunning restoration of this 130 year old Gothic revival-style building. See the mesmerising memorial window dedicated to World War One. Comprised of about 4,000 individual pieces of glass, originally installed in 1938, the window was saved and has been re-installed taking pride of place inside this incredible space.

Rutherford's Den

Scientific discovery and hands-on experimentation take centre stage in the recently opened Rutherford's Den. The space is dedicated to Nobel Prize Winner Ernest, Lord Rutherford who studied, attended lectures and undertook his earliest experiments at Canterbury College. Step inside and enjoy fun, hands on activities as you learn about science in the rooms where Rutherford studied. Open 7 days a week, 10am to 5pm. Get your tickets here or from the front desk

While you're at the Arts Centre, why not grab a bite to eat from the new eateries on Worcester Boulevard

Bunsen Cafe

Hamish Evans has opened the first cafe at the Arts Centre since the 2011 earthquake. Located in the old Le Cafe premises, Bunsen is themed with its university science lab origins in mind and pays homage to Le Cafe where Evans began his hospitality career 20 years ago.

Curators Deli

House-made award winning chorizo, sandwiches and salads, take home meals, groceries and wine are all on the menu. The Curators Deli offers tables outside to sit and enjoy your lunch European style with a spot of people watching.

Cheesemongers

Located right next to the deli, why not pop in and try a tailor made sandwich with house-made sticky chutney, lettuce and gourmet cheese of your choice. Take your lunch outside and enjoy it on the grass immersed in the surrounds of the Arts Centre.
